Decoupage is one of my all time favorite craft projects, probably number one on my list of crafts. Just with a few basic supplies you can create some beautiful, elegant home accessories using decoupage technique. All you need is an object to decoupage, paper and glue. Possibilities are endless.
Trays are not just for sprucing up the decor, but also add functionality and organization.
For this tray, all it takes is a trip to your local Dollar Store and craft store.
A baking sheet from the Dollar Store
A Dollar store calendar
Gold spray paint
Mod Podge
Scissors
Paintbrush
Damp towel
Cutout images from the calendar and set them aside.
Remove the label of the tray and if there’s any glue still on, clean it up with rubbing alcohol.
Spray the inside of the tray in a well ventilated area or outdoors with gold spray paint, following the directions on the spray can. Three light coats of the paint were required to get the final desired look.
Once the tray is completely dry, you are ready for the next step.
Paste images from the calendar to the surface of the tray with Mod Podge. Brush a thin layer of Mod Podge to the back of the images and gently place them on the tray. Smooth them out with your fingers to remove any air bubbles. Wipe any excess glue around the edges of the images with a damp towel. Let dry.
Brush additional 2 coats of Mod Podge over the images.
Once dry, your stylish decorative decoupage tray is ready for display on your coffee table or home office or bathroom counter.
